Thailand, or the Kingdom of Thailand as it is officially referred to as, is situated in the middle of Southeast Asia. Bangkok is not just the capital city of the country; it is also the largest city here. In fact, Bangkok is considered to be the center or commercial, political, cultural and industrial activities.

About 3/th of the people living in Thailand is of Thai origin and the Chinese ethnic group comprises of about 14% of its population. There are also Malays living in Thailand. It is believed that the country has about 2.2 million illegal as well as legal migrants. The country has also drawn many expats from the western countries.

Thai is the official and the main language that is spoken in Thailand. The Chinese language is also spoken by many of the Chinese ethnic group living in the country.

This nation is considered to be one of the most devoted Buddhist nations in the world and as such, Buddhism is the main religion of the Thais. In fact, more than 94% of the Thai people follow Theravada Buddhism. The second largest religion in the country is Islam.

The Thai culture has been influenced by the cultures of China, India, Cambodia and other Southeast Asian countries.
