Berlenga Grande Island

Berlenga Grande is the largest of the islands of the Berlengas Archipelago. The archipelago includes Berlenga Grande, Estela and Farinhoes islands. The Berlengas are located off cape of Peniche, to the west of the city of Peniche (parish of Sao Pedro), in Oeste region, Portugal. The main isle of Berlenga has a small harbour (connecting it to Peniche harbour). The island has a beach and the Fort of St. John the Baptiste. The most common birds are seagulls.

In 1808, HMS Milbrook wrecked on Berlenga Grande in a gale, though without loss of life.
