The old town of a city or town is its historic or original core. Although the city is usually larger in its present form, many cities have redesignated this part of the city to commemorate its origins after thorough renovations. There are many places throughout the world named old town (and this is sometimes construed as a proper noun and capitalized).
Vigan, officially the City of Vigan is a fourth class city and capital of the province of Ilocos Sur in the Philippines. The city is located on the western coast of the large island of Luzon, facing the South China Sea.
Zabid is one of the oldest towns in Yemen, and has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1993, though, in 2000, the site was placed on the List of World Heritage in Danger.
